The Inheritance of Susceptibility to the Teratogenic Action of Cortisone in Mice.

چکیده

T has been found (FRASER and FAINSTAT 1951) that pregnant mice given I cortisone during gestation will give birth to offspring a certain proportion of which have cleft palates. The frequency with which this deformity appears was observed to depend on : 1) the genotype of the treated animal, strain A being “ susceptible,” C57BL relatively ‘’ resistant,” to this effect of cortisone; 2) the dose of the hormone administered, too small an amount being ineffective in producing cleft palates, too great an amount causing resorption of the entire litter; and 3) the time during the gestation period when the animal was treated. The investigation reported here has provided fiirther observations on the genetics of susceptibility to the teratogenic effects of cortisone.

FTIR-Microspectroscopy Detection of Metronidazole Teratogenic Effects on Mice Fetus

Metronidazole is used to treat trichomoniasis, bacterial vaginosis, and other diseases. There are controversy aspects about its teratogenicity. A teratogenic agent can alter morphology or subsequent function of the fetus. The aim of this study was to examine an alternative method for the recognition of the mechanism or the bimolecular potential changes in mice fetus caused by Metronidazole usin...

Teratogenic Effects of Pregabalin in Mice

Objective(s): Anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) have the potential to affect fetal development throughout pregnancy. Considering the broad therapeutic indications of pregabalin (PGB), its potential teratogenic effects and the levels of homocysteine have been studied.   Materials and Methods: Timed-pregnant mice received one of three doses of PGB (20, 40 or 80 mg/kg/day) or the vehicl...

Estrous Cycle and Early Pregnancy of White Mice Exposed to Methomyl

Methomyl is an oxime carbamate pesticide that is widely used in the Philippines. This insecticide is known to be an endocrine disrupting chemical and a potent genotoxic in mammalian cells. However, limited studies were conducted specifically on its direct effects on estrous cycle and its teratogenic effect. This study aimed to (a) assess the effect of methomyl on the body weight and on the estr...

Teratogenic Effects of Sulfur Mustard on Mice Fetuses

Sulfur Mustard (SM) has been used as a chemical warfare agent, in the World War I and more recently during Iraq-Iran war in early 1980s’. Its biological poisoning effect could be local or systemic and its effect depends on environmental conditions, exposed organs, and the extent and duration of exposure. It is considered as a strong alkylating agent with known mutagenic, carcinogenic effects; a...
